Hop on an Alaskan cruise ship from Vancouver (or Seattle)...It's that easy

Vancouverites have never had it so good. Alaska and the Yukon are very accessible to us. We have direct flights from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or even better if you have the time, why not cruise right from our own backyard, hop on one of the world's finest cruise ships from Canada Place in downtown Vancouver and experience the Alaskan Inside Passage. There are some amazing deals to be found and for the first time cruisers this will wet your appetite in more ways than one.

Cruising allows you to leave all that airport hassle behind, there aren't any nasty fees for your first and second checked baggage and there are no carry-on restrictions of 9" x 16" x 20" (or some variation of that since it's slightly different for each airline). Cruise lines allow you to take as much as you like onboard. They will drop it off at the pier and even have it waiting for you outside your stateroom. You will get spoiled by the choices of restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. On board, the ship provides a variety of activities and events to keep you entertained, for example, Broadway style shows, casinos, fitness centre/ spa, and first run blockbuster movies in the ship's cinema. Each night you will experience a different view looking out the window from your very own floating hotel, I promise you will be hooked on cruising for the rest of your life.

If you want to explore a little more than just the inside passage, try opting for a cruise tour. You can do this in 2 ways, cruise northbound from Vancouver then fly back to Vancouver or fly northbound from Vancouver and then join the cruise heading back home.

Doing it this way allows you to explore the rugged Alaskan landscape, and learn about the Alaskan history, animal life, national parks, and outdoor activities,

For those who are looking for a little more adventure, why not try a "cruise tour". You get to see the sides of Alaska that can never be experienced from the deck of a ship. By booking onshore tours to complement your cruise, you can see huge glaciers, green forests, snow capped mountains, and remote towns by train. The Alaska Railroad runs throughout the year linking Anchorage to Juneau, Whittier and Seward. The most popular train journeys which run from mid May to mid September are The Denali Star, The Glacier Discovery Train and The Coastal Classic.

There are numerous other travel options including escorted coach tours, or for the independent traveler, hiring a car or camper van. Realizing your dream of flying to the Arctic Circle to see the Midnight Sun or the Northern Lights can easily be arranged by your travel consultant. Many excursions will take you through Denali National Park, where people can experience spectacular views of Mount McKinley, go hiking, go mountain biking, or even try panning for gold.
