American Airlines expands New York service with Calgary, Quebec City flights.
The new flights give travellers more options for connections across the U.S. and beyond.
The routes are part of American’s expanded Canadian schedule.
The airline is also marking 85 years of service in Canada.
New Calgary-JFK service
American launched seasonal service between Calgary International Airport and JFK on Aug. 6.
The route operates three times a week. Flights run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays through Oct. 4.
The service uses Boeing 737 aircraft with 172 seats.
The new flights complement American’s existing Saturday service between Calgary and New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
American also flies from Calgary to hubs in Chicago, Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Paola Torri, American’s director of operations for Canada and Mexico, said the new service will give Calgary travellers more connections through JFK.
She said the route will also make it easier for international visitors to explore Alberta.
Flights from JFK depart at 9:29 a.m. and arrive in Calgary at 2:16 p.m.
The return flight leaves Calgary at 3:37 p.m. and arrives at JFK at 9 p.m.

Daily Quebec City-JFK service
American launched daily seasonal service between Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport and JFK on Aug. 5.
The service runs through Oct. 31.
Flights are operated with Embraer 175 aircraft. The aircraft have 76 seats.
American says it is the only U.S. airline offering nonstop service between Quebec City and JFK.
The new route complements American’s flights from Quebec City to Philadelphia, Chicago, Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Flights from JFK depart at 11 a.m. and arrive in Quebec City at 12:44 p.m.
The return flight leaves Quebec City at 1:26 p.m. and arrives at JFK at 3:30 p.m.
Connections through JFK
American’s JFK hub offers more than 600 weekly flights to over 40 destinations worldwide.
International connections include Edinburgh, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and New Delhi.
U.S. connections include Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth.
85 years in Canada
American began serving Canada on June 24, 1941.
Its first Canadian flight operated between Buffalo, New York, and Toronto.
Today, American serves six Canadian cities.
They are Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Quebec City and Halifax.
During the peak summer season, American offers up to 61 daily departures from Canada to the U.S.
The schedule includes up to 28 daily flights from Toronto.
Montreal has up to 11 daily departures.
Vancouver has up to seven.
Calgary, Halifax and Quebec City each have up to six daily departures.
