Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun Gets a Complete Makeover
RIU Hotels & Resorts has reopened the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun following a major renovation.
The 618-room resort first opened in 2012. The renovation has upgraded guest rooms, public areas and amenities while maintaining the hotel’s distinctive design.
One of the biggest additions is the introduction of RIU’s Elite Club experience for adult guests.
Elite Club guests have access to a private restaurant, exclusive bar and swimming pool with a swim-up bar. They also receive premium beverages and access to selected room categories.
The resort now offers 100 Elite Club rooms, including some with private pools. These rooms are located in the former adults-only villa section.
All guestrooms have been redesigned with natural colours and warm wood finishes for a more modern look.
Public spaces, including the lobby and restaurants, have also been refreshed. Larger open areas and expanded windows now offer more views of the Caribbean Sea.
The District bar has also been updated with panoramic ocean views.
The resort now features six swimming pools, including an adults-only pool, an exclusive Elite Club pool and a children’s pool.
Families can enjoy the renovated RIU Land kids’ club, while daily activities and evening entertainment continue to be offered.
Adult guests also have access to RIU Party events held four times a week at the nearby Riu Caribe.
The resort now offers nine restaurants and seven bars, including two new dining concepts.
A new American Country-themed restaurant has been added to the 24-hour Sports Bar. A new Candy ice cream parlour also offers desserts and frozen treats for families.
Other dining options include the international buffet, Duomo Italian restaurant, Agave Mexican restaurant, Sakura Asian restaurant, Steakhouse and Krystal fusion restaurant.
Guests can also enjoy Pepe’s Food and Tiki Tako.
RIU currently operates six hotels in Cancun and 15 properties across Quintana Roo.
The company is also renovating Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen and building a new resort, Riu Palace Quintana Roo, in Costa Mujeres.
