Air Canada to Offer More Overhead Bin Space with New Airspace Cabins

Air Canada has announced plans to enhance the passenger experience by introducing the Airbus Airspace cabin on its A220 aircraft, which will include significantly larger overhead bins.

The upgraded cabins will offer 15 percent more overhead storage, helping travellers stow their carry-on luggage more easily and speeding up the boarding process. Alongside the expanded bins, the new cabin design features improved lighting and a modern ceiling layout aimed at creating a more open and comfortable onboard environment.

The first of these redesigned aircraft is expected to enter service in 2026. The new Airspace cabin introduction aligns with other upcoming upgrades from Air Canada, including refreshed cabin interiors and advanced seatback entertainment systems.

The A220 aircraft, already well-regarded by passengers, are known for their spacious design, offering wider seats and aisles, as well as the largest windows and cabin in their class. Air Canada currently operates 34 A220-300s, all built in Mirabel, Quebec, and has 31 additional units on order.

The launch of the A220 Airspace cabin marks a milestone for both Air Canada and Airbus, as it brings widebody-level comfort to narrow-body aircraft, ensuring a more consistent and upgraded experience across the airline’s fleet.
