Carnival Cruise Line is modernizing the shore excursion experience by testing a new mobile platform that eliminates the need for physical tickets and enhances convenience for both guests and tour operators.
Following a successful rollout in Australia earlier this year, Carnival is now piloting the system with selected tour partners in The Bahamas and the Caribbean. The company aims to fully transition to the digital system at Celebration Key on Grand Bahama by its opening on July 19. By the end of 2025, the ticketless platform is expected to be implemented across all shore excursions in The Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Mexico, with expansion to Alaska and European cruises planned for next summer.
With the new system, guests can check in for their excursions using their Sail & Sign card. The platform also integrates with Carnival’s HUB App, providing digital confirmations and important information such as meeting times and locations directly to guests’ devices.
The technology also supports real-time updates and last-minute bookings, giving tour operators the flexibility to manage availability and sales on the go while offering guests more spontaneous options during their cruise.
Carnival expects this shift to not only improve the overall guest experience but also provide its excursion partners with modern tools for more efficient operations.
