Royal Caribbean International canceled its upcoming Vision of the Seas season from Bermuda, citing the increasing prospect of a cruise restart from the U.S. this summer.
"The likelihood of cruises setting sail from the U.S. this summer is greater each day, and with that, U.S. travelers are increasingly showing a preference for more direct access to ports of departure," Royal said in a statement.
The company said the cancellation does not affect any other open deployments.
Royal said in late March that the Vision would launch seven-day cruises from Bermuda, which was to be its second ship to resume service for North Americans from just outside U.S. borders this summer. It still has cruises from Nassau on the Adventure of the Seas slated to launch in June.
The line said that it will still carry passengers to Bermuda on several ships across its fleet.
It is the second change to its summer schedule of sailings outside of the U.S. in the past week. Royal also redeployed the Odyssey of the Seas from Haifa, Israel, to Florida, citing the unrest in the region. The Odyssey was set to launch cruises from Haifa on June 2.
