The pumpkins might still be on the porch and the clocks haven’t all been changed yet, but November is here and it’s time to start planning something fun to end 2025 with excitement. This month brings a wide variety of festivals and celebrations across the country, from bright light displays and cultural festivals to unique holiday markets and the famous Thanksgiving parade in New York City.

Here are some of the best November events happening across the U.S.:


Native American Festival & Powwow – Stone Mountain, Georgia

Kick off November at Georgia’s biggest celebration of Native American culture. The festival (through November 3) features traditional music, dance, storytelling, artisan markets, food, and craft demonstrations. It’s a great way for families to experience the beauty and history of Native traditions.


Portland Book Festival – Portland, Oregon

Book lovers will gather in Portland on November 2 for this annual celebration of reading and writing. The event includes author talks, panel discussions, book signings, and interactive workshops. Visitors can also explore local bookstores and discover new writers from across the country.


National Peanut Festival – Dothan, Alabama

Running through November 9, this is the nation’s largest celebration of the peanut. The festival includes carnival rides, contests, livestock shows, fireworks, concerts, and, of course, plenty of peanut-inspired snacks.


WhaleFest – Sitka, Alaska

From November 7–9, the charming town of Sitka celebrates Alaska’s marine life with WhaleFest. Visitors can enjoy lectures by marine biologists, guided whale-watching tours, storytelling, and cultural events — all centered on the ocean’s wonders.


Rio Grande Birding Festival – Harlingen, Texas

Birdwatchers from around the world gather in Harlingen from November 5–9 to enjoy guided tours, photography workshops, and expert presentations. The event highlights the incredible variety of birds found in the Rio Grande Valley.


Canal Convergence – Scottsdale, Arizona

From November 7–16, the Scottsdale Waterfront transforms into a glowing outdoor art show featuring light installations and interactive art. This year’s theme, “Showtime!”, highlights performance and creativity in public spaces. The event is free and open to all.


Pirate Invasion – Beaufort, North Carolina

Beaufort turns into a pirate’s playground from November 14–16. Expect costumed pirates, treasure hunts, live entertainment, and food — a fun, family-friendly event full of adventure.


Denver Christkindlmarket – Denver, Colorado

Opening November 21, this beloved Christmas market brings a touch of Germany to downtown Denver. Visitors can shop for handmade gifts, enjoy bratwurst, strudel, and spiced wine, and take in festive performances to get into the holiday spirit.


Kona Coffee Cultural Festival – Kona, Hawai‘i

From November 7–16, Kona celebrates its world-famous coffee with tastings, farm tours, competitions, and cultural performances. The event also includes a lantern parade, art walk, and live music — all highlighting Hawai‘i’s warm community spirit.


‘A Christmas Story’ Comes Home – Hammond, Indiana

From November 15 to December 30, fans of the classic holiday movie can visit Hammond’s Indiana Welcome Center to see detailed displays recreating scenes and props from the film. Hammond is the hometown of Jean Shepherd, whose writing inspired the movie.


Lightscape – Chicago, Illinois

From November 14 to January 4, the Chicago Botanic Garden turns into a glowing winter wonderland. Visitors can walk through light tunnels, sculptures, and colorful art installations — perfect for evening strolls and photos.


Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – New York City, New York

On November 27, the 99th annual Macy’s Parade takes over Manhattan with giant balloons, musical performances, marching bands, and exciting new floats — including ones featuring Mario and Shrek. It remains one of the most iconic holiday traditions in the U.S.


Country Club Plaza Light Switch-On – Kansas City, Missouri

Thanksgiving night marks the start of the holiday season in Kansas City as the lights at Country Club Plaza are turned on. This beloved tradition fills the Spanish-style shopping plaza with festive cheer, music, and holiday spirit.
