WestJet Adjusts Carry-On Sizing

New carry-on baggage sizing devices will soon be available at WestJet counters as the airline updates its cabin baggage allowances. The revised dimensions will change from the current 21” x 15” x 9” to 22” x 14” x 9”, allowing an extra inch in height (including wheels and handles) while requiring bags to be one inch thinner.

Effective May 6, 2025, this adjustment aligns WestJet’s carry-on size restrictions with those of other airlines, including its codeshare partner Delta Airlines. The previous sizing standard was unique to WestJet and had been a topic of feedback from both passengers and employees.

The change is expected to improve check-in and boarding efficiency by ensuring greater consistency across different carriers. New baggage sizing devices will be introduced at all WestJet-serviced airports by March 13. To ease the transition, both the current and new carry-on dimensions will be accepted until the official implementation date.
