Starting in May 2025, Air Canada will provide free, fast, streaming-quality Wi-Fi.

The Bell-sponsored service will be free for Aeroplan members traveling within the Sun and North American regions on aircraft having Wi-Fi. In 2026, Air Canada also intends to add free Wi-Fi on its long-haul international routes.

Both business and leisure travelers now depend on having dependable access to Wi-Fi that can stream high-quality content. We're updating our fleet with the newest technology because of this," stated Mark Nasr, President of Aeroplan and Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada.

With a customer-focused rollout strategy that includes installing service on Air Canada Express Q400s, including those that depart from Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport, we are thrilled to provide quick, free Wi-Fi to all Aeroplan Members.

Even though several Canadian airlines have made announcements about providing free Wi-Fi, not all of them have committed to providing the service fully or accelerated implementation across their fleets. Beginning in the early spring, Air Canada intends to provide free, fast Wi-Fi throughout its whole fleet. Furthermore, Nasr stated that more than 85% of planes will be connected right once, with the remaining installations being prioritized throughout 2025.

Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and the majority of Air Canada Express planes will all have free Wi-Fi. This program expands on the airline's free Wi-Fi texting service, which has been offered to Aeroplan members since May 2023 and is sponsored by Bell.

If they haven't already, travelers can sign up for Aeroplan at aircanada.com/aeroplan for free. For a discounted flat cost, customers without an Aeroplan membership can purchase Wi-Fi for their flight.

ADDING FREE WI-FI TO THE BILLY BISHOP IN TORONTO

Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft will allow passengers to stay productive, stream live TV, and enjoy seamless access on their personal device during their journey on certain regional routes across Canada, such as those between Toronto Billy Bishop Airport and Montreal or Ottawa. It is anticipated that the first phase of the certification and installation of Wi-Fi connectivity on Q400 aircraft would be finished by the end of 2025. This will be the first Q400 airplane to offer free, fast Wi-Fi.

Over 90% of Air Canada mainline, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express aircraft now offer free in-flight messaging to Aeroplan Members thanks to Bell's sponsorship of in-flight Wi-Fi services since May 2023.
