Airlines plan full schedules despite border force strikes

Airlines are confident they can operate as normal despite airport border force strikes.

Border force staff at six airports will walk out from 23 December until Boxing, jeopardising Christmas flights.

They will also strike from 28 December to New Year’s Eve.

About 1,000 members of the PCS union are striking over pay.

Jet2 said it ‘very much intends to operate a full schedule.’

Strikes by Border Force staff are set for Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow airports.

Inbound flights are expected to be most impacted

The Times reported that airlines were advised to cancel up to 30% of flights to minimise disruption.
