Grantley Adams airport in Barbados will remain closed until at least noon on Friday, April 16, according to published reports.
The airport has been closed since April 11 as a result of limited visibility due to the ongoing ash fall from the eruption of La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent.
Barbados' National Housing Corp. has been mobilized to begin the cleanup of ash particles which coat road surfaces, residences and businesses on Barbados.
The volcano has erupted three more times this week since the initial eruption on April 9, which caused the evacuation of more than 16,000 Vincentians in the northern part of the island.
Argyle Airport on St. Vincent is closed until further notice.
The winds have blown eastward since then to Barbados, carrying thick clouds of ash with them. A gray haze hangs over much of the capital of Bridgetown and surrounding communities.
More eruptions are predicted, according to meteorologists in St. Vincent and Barbados.
