Delta Air Lines' Cabin Will Get a Whole New Look

You can begin bidding adieu to the interior design of Delta Air Lines. In preparation for its centenary later this year, the airline is introducing entirely renovated interior cabins throughout its fleet.

This fall, the cabins will make their narrowbody premiere on its Boeing 757 aircraft operating short-haul international and domestic flights. In early 2025, they will make their debut on its fleet of Airbus A350s.

With a softer color scheme that echoes the traditional Delta style but has a more contemporary, clean edge, it's a totally new design for Delta.

In addition to mood lighting that changes with each new flight phase, the makeover incorporates memory foam cushion seats on widebody jets across all cabin classes, with discreet seat badges to identify those classes. According to Delta, the illumination will be made to assist passengers in adjusting to the time zone they are entering.

We've concentrated on the "moment of deceleration" for boarding, which is the cozy, welcoming lighting that gives the impression that the cabin is roomy and open. We use colors at mealtimes that create the illusion of a candlelit dinner, which makes meals seem more casual and welcoming. We take inspiration from the sunset and gradually eliminate blue light as the lights go down for sleep, adding in warm amber hues that evoke the warmth of a sunset. According to Mauricio Parise, vice president for customer experience design at Delta, "the cabin gradually brightens into morning and daylight when it's time to wake up."

The onboard restrooms are also getting a makeover, with accent walls and bright walls opposite the mirror in Delta's Celestial Sky motif.
