Effective September 4, Air Canada will implement shortened check-in cutoff times.

Montreal — Air Canada is trying to improve the traveller experience by modifying certain check-in deadlines.

The modifications are operative as of tomorrow, Sept. 4.

All sectors will now have a 60-minute check-in deadline, with the exception of YTZ and Air Canada's Landline bus service from YHM and YKF.

The airline stated that this modification "ensures a smoother, more efficient boarding process, giving customers peace of mind as they prepare for takeoff."

The ability for status members to board with their zone fifteen minutes early thanks to enhancements is a major perk.

These travel suggestions were supplied by Air Canada with the notification.

  • Check-in in advance: "Customers may use our Air Canada mobile app or check-in online at aircanada.com starting 24 hours prior to their travel. Please remind them to arrive well in advance of the check-in deadlines if they would rather check in at the airport.

  • Get to the airport early so that "they can check-in, drop off their bags, and explore the airport without feeling rushed."

  • Bag drop: "They have up to four hours prior to the departure of their flight to check in their bags." This lessens the traffic at customs and security. Recall that Air Canada is unable to accept additional luggage after the baggage desk shuts. Customers can drop off their bags up to 45 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights, but 60 minutes is the maximum time for international flights.
