Hong Kong Airlines has officially restarted its direct flights to Vancouver, re-entering the North American market. The long-haul service connecting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) resumed on January 18, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the carrier.
Previously, the airline operated frequent flights between HKG and YVR from June 2017 until February 2020. To promote the route’s initial launch, Hong Kong Airlines partnered with Jackie Chan, who boarded the inaugural flight and participated in Canada Day 150 celebrations at Canada Place.
The route is now operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Flights depart YVR on Wednesdays and Sundays at 1:50 AM and arrive in Hong Kong at 7:00 AM the following day. Return flights leave HKG on Tuesdays at 10:10 PM and Saturdays at 11:50 PM, arriving in Vancouver at 6:10 PM and 7:50 PM on the same day, respectively.
Hong Kong Airlines has demonstrated strong recovery, now serving over 30 destinations. The carrier reported a full recovery of pre-pandemic flight numbers in 2024, with over five million passengers served. Looking ahead, the airline plans to expand its fleet and increase capacity across Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe.
